Bulldogs Score In Bulk To Down Flyers On Sunday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Truman State women's soccer team scored goals on three of their first five shots as they picked up their first Great Lakes Valley Conference win with a 3-0 victory over Lewis (Ill.) on Sunday.

Emma Thompson settled a loose ball 20 yards out and blasted a goal into the top right corner for the 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of action.

In the 18th minute, a long free kick by the Bulldogs went off the head of a Lewis defender and then found the foot of Emma Thiessen, who put the ball on the ground into the empty net for a 2-0 advantage.

Truman State has had success executing off corner kicks this season and the third goal was a prime example. Thompson served a ball that Lia Quintero headed into the net off the corner for a 3-0 lead in the 31st minute of play.

Lewis turned up the pressure in the second half firing 12 shots with five on net. Tatum Damron stopped them all to preserve the clean sheet and her third shutout of the season.

The Bulldogs return to action next Sunday hosting Quincy at noon.
