Truman State used a bruising ground game and a stifling defensive effort to secure a 27–16 road win over Southwest Baptist on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Bolivar, Missouri. The Bulldogs piled up 443 yards of offense. including 268 on the ground, and never trailed after scoring on their first drive of the second quarter.
After a scoreless first frame highlighted by two Truman interceptions that ended SBU scoring threats, quarterback Dylan Hair put the Bulldogs on the board early in the second quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run, capping a seven-play, 80-yard drive. Following a defensive stop, Hair connected with Adam Hall on an 11-yard touchdown pass to double the lead to 14–0 with just over two minutes left in the half.
SBU briefly cut the margin to one score before halftime, but Truman's offense responded quickly. Hair guided a five-play, 26-yard drive in the final 30 seconds, setting up Diego Perez for a 32-yard field goal that sent the Bulldogs into the break ahead 17–7.
The hosts managed a field goal midway through the third quarter, trimming Truman's lead to 17–10, but the Bulldogs' defense held firm, forcing a turnover on downs on SBU's next two possessions. Early in the fourth, Hair found Noah Copeland for a one-yard touchdown pass to push the margin back to two scores. After another defensive stop, Perez drilled a 38-yard field goal to make it 27–10 with just over seven minutes to play.
SBU added a late touchdown on a 23-yard pass with 4:28 remaining, but Truman's rushing attack, led by Elijah Stevens and Denim Cook, ran out the clock from there to seal the Bulldogs' fourth GLVC win of the year.
