INDIANAPOLIS – The Truman State Women's Basketball team will return to the Great Lakes Valley Conference postseason tournament following a 72-61 road win over the University of Indianapolis on Thursday night.
Molly Joyce led the Bulldogs with a game-high 22 points, knocking down four three-pointers and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Bryar Duwe added a career-best 20 points on an efficient 7-for-11 shooting performance, including five three-pointers.
Truman (14-15, 11-8 GLVC) set the tone early, jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter. UINDY (8-19, 6-13 GLVC) fought back in the third quarter and actually took a 42-41 lead midway through. Truman got some separation by scoring the first six points of the fourth and retook a 10-point advantage on Gracie Neff's three-pointer at the 5:03 mark.
Emma Bulman contributed 12 points for the Bulldogs, while Jordan Cunningham filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Truman shot 42.6% from the field, including 12-of-32 from beyond the arc, and won the rebounding battle 42-32.
The win locked up the final spot for the GLVC Tournament and Truman can be either the sixth, seventh or eighth seeds depending on how the standings shake out following Saturday's regular season. The Bulldogs will open the tournament on either Thursday or Friday evening at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
The Bulldogs will close out the regular season at home on Saturday facing William Jewell (Mo.) for Senior Day. Tip time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
