INDIANAPOLIS – A four-run first and UIndy was off to the races against Truman State in a 14-7-inning affair Sunday.
A two-run, two-out home run capped the inning where the lead-off walk opened the door to the crooked number. The Bulldogs were able to hold the Greyhounds scoreless in just one inning – the fifth – after UIndy got five in its half of the fourth grabbing a 13-0 lead. For the second time in two of the previous three games, UIndy swiped five bags while collecting 24 stolen bases total in the series.
Five consecutive walks in the top of the seventh, all but two free passes collected by the 'Dogs in the game, allowed Truman State to score four but not stave off defeat due to run rules. It was the second of the four games at UIndy where the 'Dogs were defeated by ten runs and third game called on run rules.
Colin Meuth cracked his first double of the campaign in a 1-3 day at the plate with a run scored.
Warner Lenahan dropped the decision going to 0-4 after surrendering six runs, three earned, with four hits on three walks.
The 8-27 Bulldogs travel to St. Louis April 17-19 for four games at 22-15 Maryville (Mo.). Truman State looks to avoid an eight-game losing streak while the Saints will be protecting a streak of nine consecutive wins.
