KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Truman State redshirt-junior guard Emajin McCallop has been named to the All-GLVC First Team and the All-Newcomer Team, while redshirt-sophomore forward Mallory Ott was selected as the program's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree, the Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Wednesday.
McCallop was one of 10 players named to the All-GLVC First Team, earning the honor in her first season with the Bulldogs after transferring to Truman. She led the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game in both overall and conference play across 25 appearances. The redshirt junior shot 45.2 percent from the field and 85.4 percent from the free throw line on the season, while also contributing 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Over 20 conference games, McCallop averaged 15.1 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting, with a free throw percentage of 87.5 percent.
Her All-Newcomer selection recognizes the impact she made in her first season in a Bulldog uniform, joining Illinois Springfield's Kennedy Osterman, Maryville's Gracie Gopalan, Southwest Baptist's Kamiyah Hurd, and Upper Iowa's Ellie Foster on that team.
McCallop's performance was central to a strong season for the Bulldogs, who finished 17-11 overall and 14-6 in conference play. Truman outscored opponents by an average of 9.8 points per game in GLVC contests, holding conference foes to 61.9 points per game while scoring 71.7 on the other end.
Ott, a 28-game starter who averaged 8.2 points and a team-leading 5.6 rebounds per game on the season, was recognized as the Bulldogs' James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree. The award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, are in good academic standing, and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the competition setting.
Missouri-St. Louis forward Mara Rieder was named GLVC Player of the Year, Lewis guard Ally Cesarini earned Defensive Player of the Year, UMSL's Jayden Kuper took home Freshman of the Year honors, and Katie Vaughn of Missouri-St. Louis was named Coach of the Year. William Jewell College was selected as the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award winner.
