Hewitt led the Panthers in rushing his senior season with 1,742 yards on 262 carries in 10 games played. He also caught five balls for 67 yards. On special teams, he had 772 kick off return yards with two returns for touchdowns. Hewitt was an honorable mention all-State selection and first-team all-conference his senior year. His 1,742 rushing yards set a school record for yards in a season. He broke four other school marks, total yards in a season with 2,581, career return yards with 1,036, season return yards with 772 and touchdowns in a game with six. Hewitt was a state qualifier in wrestling and a sectional qualifier in the Pole Vault.
