Dajae Black was hired in July of 2023 as an assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator for
Theo Dean at Truman State University. Black has spent the past three seasons at the NCAA Division I level.
Black will work primarily with the point guards and serve as the recruiting coordinator, while also assisting with practice, scouting, and overseeing fundraisers, camps, and community service.
Black comes to Truman State after serving as an Assistant Coach at the University of Akron (Ohio) during the 2022-23 season. In her first season, Black helped lead Akron to a 17-13 record and the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Prior to Akron, Black spent two seasons on staff with the Grand Canyon (Ariz.) University women's basketball program. Black was a graduate assistant for the Lopes during the 2020-21 season, but was promoted to Director of Basketball Operations for the 21-22 campaign.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Black was a four year member of the women's basketball team at Lewis University, where she appeared in 97 games, including 37 starts. Black was also a four time recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, which recognizes Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence. The Flyers went 93-34 (.795) during Black's four-year career.
