2017-18: Joined Zach Fischer as the only two Bulldogs to start all 31 of the team's games ... fifth on the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game and made the second-most three-pointers of anyone on the squad with 51 behind Jake Velky's 78 ... converted on 34.7 percent of his 147 looks from three-point land ... scored at least 10 points in a game 12 times and went for 20 or more three times including 21 on Dec. 17 vs. Missouri Southern, 20 vs. Lewis on Jan. 6 and 20 at Rockhurst on Jan. 13 ... hottest stretch of the season came in the seven games from Dec. 17 through Jan. 15 ... in that stretch, Messer averaged 16.7 points per contest while shooting 59.5 percent (22-of-37) from behind the arc ... that seven-game stretch pushed Messer's scoring average to a season high 12.1 points per game ... reached double-figures in scoring for 10 of the first 16 games of the season before doing so just twice in the final 15 contests.
2016-17: Transferred in from Navy right before his sophomore year of eligibility and what a year it was ... played in 25 of the team's 32 games with 23 starts, but was hampered by an injury to his shooting hand late in the year ... despite that, Messer proved to be deadly from behind the arc ... amongst the best in the GLVC, Messer was second in three-pointers made per game (3.1), sixth in total triples made (77), seventh in three-pointers attempted (187), and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (41.2) ... was one of four Bulldogs to average at least 10 points per game and his average of 11.6 was good for fourth on the squad ... for the single-season record book, his 77 triples made and 187 three-pointers attempted are both ranked eighth ... the St. Louis native is also already tied for ninth in the career three-point percentage record book with that 41.2 percent mentioned earlier ... in 2016-17, a Bulldog made at least seven three-pointers in a game nine times and Messer was responsible for three of those times including seven vs. Drury on Jan. 26, seven against William Jewell on Dec. 3 and seven vs. Kentucky Wesleyan on Dec. 17 ... his best game of the season was that one mentioned just now at William Jewell ... that night, Messer went off for 28 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 7-for-12 from behind the arc, and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line ... that effort was one of four in which Messer went for at least 20 points ... followed up the William Jewell with 21 vs. Central Methodist on Dec. 6 before 23 at Kentucky Wesleyan on Dec. 17 and 23 later in the season against Drury on Jan. 26 ... those 23 points against the Panthers came in just 22 minutes on the court ... made at least three triples in a game 16 times and at least five of them six times ... turned in a five-game stretch in December in which he was putting up nearly 20 points per game (19.8) with scoring marks of 28, 21, 14, 13, and 23 ... that stretch put his season scoring average up to 15.0, the highest it was all season aside from 18.5 after two games and 16.0 after three.

Attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, R.I. during the 2014-15 academic year before his freshman campaign was spent with the team in Annapolis, Md. ... in 2015-16, Messer played in two games with a total of three minutes and made his career debut in Navy's win at Lafayette on Jan. 16 ... later converted a three-pointer on his first collegiate field goal attempt in Navy's win at Loyola on Feb. 10. when he finished with three points and two minutes played.
High School
Prepped at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Mo. where he was a three-year starter and letterwinner for the Lancers before graduating in 2014 ... helped lead the team to a Suburban West Conference title with a 24-5 record as a senior and was named the Suburban West Conference Player of the Year while scoring 14 points per game ... averaged 13 points per contest as a junior and still holds the school record for three-point field goals made in a single season.
