COLUMBIA, Mo. – Anna Grinter became the 12th women's swimmer to earn a NCAA B-cut time and Jerod Simek smashed his own school record to earn an A-cut time as Bulldog teams competed in the final day of the Mizzou Invitational on Sunday.
Jerod Simek completed one of his strongest meets of his career with a B-time in the 1650 Free, however during the race, Simek bested his school record time when he touched in 9:21.29 at the 1000 meter mark, which was also good for an NCAA A-cut. Simek beat his four Bulldog teammates to the wall in a time of 16:22.84. Brian Tillis was 14th an also earned a B-mark.
Simek earned a team-high three B-cut times during the invitational and was joined by Matt Fletcher (400 and 200 IMs), Tillis (1650 Free) and Eric Mikolajczyk (500 Free).
Mikolajczyk had the best finish on the final day with a ninth in the 200 Fly.
Grinter touched the wall in 2:06.04, which improved upon her previous B-cut time of 2:07.18 in an earlier dual with Missouri State. Tanya Sylvester also improved on her season-best time and earned a B mark in the same event with a time of 2:07.44.
Stephanie Myers and Allison Harding earned B-times in the 1650 Free while Taylor Birsa and Margaux Kent picked up B marks in the 200 Breast. Jessica Jenkot (100 Free) and Stacey Wymer (200 Back) had the other B times on Sunday for the 'Dogs.
In total for the women, 12 Bulldogs made B times during the three-day meet. Sylvester, Birsa, Kent, Wymer and Jenkot all earned B marks in four events.
