Evansville, Ind. – The Truman State University men's and women's swimming teams concluded their 2025-26 season at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, hosted at the Deaconess Aquatic Center from February 11-15. The Bulldogs showcased their growth throughout the season with multiple All-GLVC honors, personal-best performances, and a new school record.
Women's Team Highlights
The Bulldog women earned several top-eight finishes to claim All-GLVC recognition. Senior Taylor Graham led the way with an eighth-place finish in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 17:55.90. Graham also contributed with a 10th-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:10.77) and helped anchor multiple relay efforts.
Senior Jahmia Harley collected All-GLVC honors with her eighth-place performance in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 57.57. Harley was a versatile contributor throughout the championships, also placing 12th in the 200 backstroke (2:07.64) and swimming on Truman's 200 medley relay.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Harley, senior Chloe Myers, senior Maddie Lynch, and freshman Lucy Hough secured an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:46.01, earning All-GLVC status for their collaborative effort.
Additional strong performances came from Marianne Dean, who finished 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:14.68) and 14th in the 1650 freestyle (18:24.66). Sophomore Madison Schmidt placed 17th in the 400 IM (4:42.93) and contributed to multiple relay teams.
Men's Team Highlights
The Bulldog men made history at the championships, highlighted by sophomore Jacob Wolf's record-breaking performance in the 100-yard backstroke. Wolf shattered Truman's school record with a time of 49.20 in the preliminaries, ultimately finishing ninth in the event. He followed that with an impressive ninth-place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:49.26), just missing All-GLVC honors in both events.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team delivered Truman's top relay performance, earning All-GLVC recognition with a seventh-place finish. The quartet of Cameron Lee, Drake Durbin, Dennis Bobiv, and Colin Wolfmeyer combined for a time of 1:23.72.
Senior Drake Durbin was a consistent scorer throughout the meet, placing 22nd in the 200 IM (1:56.97) and contributing to the 200 medley relay team that finished ninth (1:31.14) alongside Wolf, Lee, and Bobiv.
Freshman Dennis Bobiv showed promise with a 19th-place finish in the 100 butterfly (50.22) and multiple relay contributions, while sophomore Nicholas Richter added a 38th-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:43.24).
Championship Performance Summary
The Bulldogs demonstrated significant improvement throughout the championships, recording:
- 24 personal-best times
- 30 season-best times
- 14 final appearances (top 24 in individual events, top 20 in relays)
The men's team finished 10th in the final team standings with 252 points, while the women competed alongside some of the GLVC's strongest programs.
"This meet showed the dedication and growth of our program," Coach Doug Heighton noted. "Breaking a school record, earning multiple All-GLVC honors, and posting so many personal bests demonstrates the commitment our student-athletes made throughout the season."
Looking Ahead
With several underclassmen contributing key performances and the team's culture of improvement on full display, the Bulldogs have established a foundation for future success. Wolf's record-breaking performance and the numerous season-best times suggest positive momentum heading into the off-season.
The conference championships were dominated by the University of Indianapolis, which swept both team titles, with the men scoring 1,853.5 points and the women claiming their championship as well. Drury University and McKendree University rounded out the top three in the men's standings.
As the Bulldogs close the book on the 2025-26 season, they do so with pride in their accomplishments, All-GLVC honors, a new school record, and dozens of personal achievements that point toward a bright future for Truman State swimming.
