Final Results

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - - Fueled by the lowest individual scoring round of the season by any team member, the Truman men's golf team jumped to 12th in the final round of the UCM “Heart of America” Invitational. Junior Nik Bentzinger carded a 1-under-par 70 behind three birdies, including a near hole-in-one, on the final three holes.

Bentzinger finished the three-round, two-day event tied for 28th after shooting one of the tournament's lowest rounds on Tuesday. Andy Herington turned in a 76, while fellow senior Chris Kovach (77) and Jake Hanrahan (79) combined to help the Bulldogs shoot a 302. Zach Burkland, competing as an individual, carded a 79 of his own on the final day, while Alex Thompson fired an 84.

The Bulldogs nearly recorded a day to remember, as, in addition to Bentzinger's near-miss on the final hole, both Hanrahan and Burkland sniffed the pin on tee shots off the par-3s. Hanrahan rattled the flagstick on the 11th hole, while Burkland also rolled just by on the 18th on the way to converting a birdie.

Tuesday's final round was the third-lowest mark of the season for the 'Dogs as a unit, as Truman passed Lincoln to earn a pair of conference points heading into next week's MIAA Championships. The Bulldogs hit the links at Tiffany Greens Golf Course in Kansas City next Monday and Tuesday.
