MACOMB, Ill. - - Senior Chris Kovach posted one of the day's best scores during round two, jumping to 16th overall in the predominantly Division I field at the Western Illinois Invitational to help the Truman men's golf team finish 13th.
The snow-shortened event was reduced to just 36 holes from the scheduled 54, with both Kovach (77-74) and junior Nik Bentzinger (80-78) improving in the second round. Bentzinger posted a 43rd-place finish to also finish in the top half of the field.
Senior Andy Herington (80-82), sophomore Jake Hanrahan (85-86) and freshman Alex Thompson (83-88) rounded out the Bulldogs' five-man unit at the event.
The Bulldogs posted a two-day score of 640, recording back-to-back 320's to finish 13th. Truman was the only Div. II squad in the field, which also consisted of 11 Division I teams and two nationally-ranked NAIA programs.
Truman returns to action April 11-12 at the University of Central Missouri Invitational. That event is the third MIAA scoring tournament of the year.
