Truman Hosts Three-Point Party On Pink Night

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. –Nicole Gloor hit her first seven shots from the field, including four three-pointers, in a 78-69 victory over Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University on Thursday night in Pershing Arena.  The win matched last year's win total at 17 and was the 14th straight home victory for the Bulldogs.
 
The Bulldogs (17-5; 10-4 MIAA) were able to erase a Bearcat (9-13; 4-10 MIAA) 10-point deficit early in the first half win a 13-0 run sparked by a three-point barrage.  Becka McHenry, Allie Norton and Gloor all connected from distance during the run that put Truman ahead 22-19 at the seven minute mark.
 
Gloor then hit another three-pointer for the game's 10th and final lead change and the Bulldogs built up a 37-29 halftime lead. The Bulldogs made 77.8% of their three-point shots in the first half going seven of nine.
 
Truman extended the lead to double figures with the first make of the second half and led by as many as 16 points with 11 minutes remaining. The Bearcats would get as close as eight and Truman would score their last nine points from the foul line going 9-of-10.
 
It was the third time this season the Division II's top three-point shooting team made double-figures from the arc as they connected on 10-of-15 attempts (66.7%).
 
Gloor finished with a season-high 20 points, going 7-of-10 from the field and knocking down four of five from outside. McHenry and Norton each added 14 points and dished out a combine 10 assists. Jennifer Conway achieved a milestone as the senior grabbed three rebounds on the night and became the 13th Bulldog to pull down 500 career boards.
 
The Bulldogs took advantage of turnovers as they had just eight to SBU's 18 and outscored the Bearcats on points off of turnovers 24 to two.
 
Jacqui Zelenka paced the Bearcats with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Chasity Prince added 17 and Brook Duncan scored 17 off the bench. It was the fourth straight defeat for SBU.
 
It was the sixth consecutive victory by Truman over Southwest Baptist who will now be off until next Thursday night when they host Lindenwood (Mo.) University for the home conference and senior night game.
