Shooting Blitz By Flyers Down Truman Women

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – After six ties in the first 10 minutes of play, the Lewis (Ill.) Flyers went on a scoring terror and downed the Truman Bulldogs 98-72. Nicole Gloor led Truman with 20 points as the Bulldogs will complete the weekend road swing at Wisconsin Parkside on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
 
The Flyers (7-2; 1-0 GLVC) and Bulldogs (6-4; 0-2 GLVC) traded the lead six times over the first 10 minutes of the game before Lewis scored 10 straight with leading scorer Mariyah Henley on the bench with eight points but two fouls.
 
Lewis then held Truman without a field goal over the final four plus minutes and led 48-31 at the break.
 
Truman scored the first six straight to start the second half but the Flyers answered when Alyssa Dengler buried a wing three-pointer to start a 5-0 run. Lewis proceeded to torch the nets over the next 10 minutes hitting 80% of their shots to storm out to a 20-point lead. Lewis would hand the Bulldogs their first three-game losing streak since the 2011-12 season.
 
Henley finished with 26 points, 16 coming in the second half and along with fellow post player Jess Reinhart (23 points) made 13 of 14 field goal attempts in the final 20 minutes to pace the Flyers for a 64% overall shooting percentage in the period.
 
Nicole Gloor scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half and was joined in double-figures with Allie Norton's 14 points. Norton made three, three-pointers to tie for fourth all-time in Bulldog history with Susan Theroff with 149.
