KIRKSVILLE – Freshman Megan Oostendorp was at the right place at the right time, as her first goal of the season allowed the Truman women's soccer team to advance in the Great Lakes Valley Conference postseason tournament with a 1-0 win over Drury (Mo.) University on Sunday.

Alexis Heffernan carried the ball down the right side of the field and sent it towards the middle where after it pin-balled off a few legs to eventually land at the feet of Allison Lockett. From there, Lockett found Oostendorp, who got just enough of it to get it past a diving Tina Haberberger and just off the inside of the left post for the goal with 11 minutes left on the game clock.

The Panthers' best chance for an equalizer came a couple of minutes later but Emily Cline's shot sailed just over the crossbar. Drury pressured the Bulldogs late, but the Truman defense stood tall with Katie Mattingly making two saves for the shutout.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair with Truman putting three balls on net and the Panthers getting one on goal. In the second, the Bulldogs controlled the majority of the play, having eight shots (four on goal).

Truman advances to play top seeded Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament. The Rangers defeated the Bulldogs 2-1 in their regular season match-up also played in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Match time is to be determined.
