Allie Norton scored 24 points as the Truman Women's Basketball team upset Division I Alabama-Birmingham 67-61 on Wednesday night in an exhibition game.
The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 10 in the first half but stormed back and outscored the Blazers 42-31 in the final 20 minutes. There were 15 lead changes in the game with Truman grabbing control in the final minute of play.
Norton tallied 24 points with five of six from three-point range while playing in front of her dad, UAB Head Coach Randy Norton. She was 7-of-9 from the field and added five points from the free throw line while pulling down six rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
Courtney Strait added 13 points and
Allison Wiese scored 12 with a big three-pointer late in the contest to give Truman the lead for good.
The Bulldogs shot a paltry 34.8% in the first half after playing the night before in Jonesboro, Arkansas but righted the ship in the second shooting 54.5% overall.
UAB got 25 points from Janae Smith and a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds by Dy'man Webb.
Truman will open up the 2014-15 season at home next Friday night hosting Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College at 5:30 p.m. in Pershing Arena.
