KIRKSVILLE - - The Truman men's basketball team blitzed Maryville with 10 first-half three-pointers, then opened the second half on an 11-0 run to cruise to a 74-53 victory against the Saints on Saturday afternoon in Pershing Arena.

The Bulldogs (12-5, 4-3 GLVC) handled Maryville (9-6, 4-2 GLVC) in two different ways – punishing the MU zone defense in the first half with 10 triples on 11 total made baskets before shooting 13-for-23 from inside the arc against MU's man-to-man in the second stanza. Truman hit 10-of-19 from three-point land in the opening 20 minutes, as senior guards Isaac Gardner and Reed Mells led the way with three apiece.

The score changed hands just four times, all in the early going before a Mells bucket at the 14:47 mark of the first half gave Truman the lead for good at 10-8. From there, the lead extended to 18-8 and dropped into single-digits just once more on an MU free throw to make the score 18-9.
