Box Score
LEBANON, Ill. – The Truman women's basketball team started its weekend road-trip on the right note with a 13-0 start and defeated McKendree (Ill.) University 65-53 on Thursday night in Lebanon, Illinois. Senior Allie Norton led Truman with 16 points and was joined in double-figures by junior Courtney Strait (11) and junior Michalina Tomczak (10).

The Bulldogs (9-3, 3-1 GLVC) were on fire to start the game hitting their first five shots and racing out the 13 point lead. Little did the 'Dogs think that would be their largest lead until the final minute of the game, as Truman proceeded to hit just four field goals the rest of the first half while the Bearcats (1-10, 0-3 GLVC) countered with a 7-0 run.

Truman kept McKendree at arms' length for most of the second half. After the Bearcats got as close as five points at 45-40, redshirt freshman Ashley Hartwig keyed a 6-0 run with classmate Rachel Steinhoff scoring on consecutive possessions to push the lead back to double-figures.

Caty Ponce knocked down a triple and McKendree scratched back to within six with six minutes left but Norton scored on two straight possessions to give Truman a 57-47 advantage.

Norton was quiet from long range, hitting 1-of-6 three-point shots, in fact Truman's starting back court was a combined 1-of-10 from three for the game. Senior Allison Wiese came off the bench to provide the spark by hitting all three of her three-point attempts. Truman managed four triples and shot 26% from three and 39% for the game.

Ponce led McKendree with 17 points as the Bearcats shot a frigid 34% from the field.

Truman will head to Illinois Springfield for a Saturday afternoon game. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
