KIRKSVILLE, Mo.   – Allie Norton's steal and layup with 16 seconds left helped seal Truman's 58-53 victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday afternoon in Pershing Arena. The senior finished with 19 points in 38 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs took a nine-point lead on Ashley Hartwig's drive and basket at the 4:44 mark but watched as the Tritons would claw their way back by scoring six straight.

Hartwig scored a key basket with 2:10 to play and the two team's trade empty possessions until Tierra Snow's bucket with 56 seconds remaining brought the Tritons back to within three.

Courtney Strait converted on a pair of free throws but Kelly McGovern kept it a one score game with a basket with 25 seconds left.

Norton was fouled on the inbounds but the senior missed the front end of the one-and-one. She made up for her miscue by picking McGovern's pocket and blazing in for the two points and a five-point Truman lead.

McGovern made a pair of free throws to make it 56-53 but Norton would have better results from the line as she clinched the win with two of her own in the closing seconds.

The Bulldogs battled back from a six-point deficit in the first half to go into the locker room up 28-26. Truman opened the second half on a 15-5 run and on Michalina Tomczak's basket had an 11-point advantage at 42-31 with 11:02 remaining.

UMSL's Alexis Lawrence scored seven of her 11 points during the stretch run that trimmed Truman's lead down to three.

The Bulldogs shot 43% from the field going making three, three-pointers and 17-of-21 from the foul line. Norton was joined in double-figures by Tomczak's 10 points.

Lawrence and Amber Daly led UMSL with 11 apiece and Kunkel added 10. The Tritons show 43% from the field, also making a trio of treys and were 8-of-11 from the line. UMSL won the boards 34-22 but had 18 turnovers to Truman's nine.

The Bulldogs will finish out the regular season on the road Thursday night when they face rival Quincy (Ill.). Truman is currently in fifth place in the GLVC with the Lady Hawks, William Jewell (Mo.) and the Triton's nipping at their heels at 9-8. Game time is slated for 5:15 p.m.
