KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For just the second time in school history, the #10th ranked Truman Women's Soccer team is unbeaten after the first 10 matches of the season. Stephanie Williams' first goal of the year gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten and #21st ranked Rockhurst on Sunday.

A Rockhurst throw in resulted in the Bulldog goal. The throw went deep into Truman territory where a Bulldog defender cleared the ball down the right side of the field. Williams was able to corral it head the ball back to a streaking Hanna Burke. The freshman flew past a pair of defenders and laid it forward to Williams, who then slid the ball past keeper Ali Wallner for the score. The goal came in the 57th minute.

That was the only shot by the Bulldogs in the second half to go along with their two in the first 45 minutes. Rockhurst had a dozen shots in the first half and another 10 in the second to outshoot the Bulldogs 22-3.

Katie Mattingly had to make nine saves for her eighth shutout this year and her 26th clean sheet of her career. That ties her for fourth on the Bulldog shutout list with her predecessor Emily Bozdeck (2010-13).

Now at the halfway point of the GLVC season, the Bulldogs are the lone undefeated team at 8-0 and have wins over the two teams tied for second in the Hawks and Bellarmine. Truman's 9-0-1 overall record matches the start of only the 2004 squad that finished with a school record 19 wins (19-1-2).

The Bulldogs return home for a pair of conference matches next Friday and Sunday. They will host Saint Joseph's on Friday and the University of Indianapolis on Sunday with both games starting at noon.
