KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – A dominating second half performance lifted the #10 Truman Women's Soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Saint Joseph's College on Friday night at Spainhower Field in Kirksville. The Bulldogs will host the University of Indianapolis for Senior Day on Sunday at noon.
The Pumas kept Truman out of the net in the first half but were outshot 12-2 in the first 45 minutes. The Bulldogs then opened the second half with a fury of chances early then found pay dirt when
Hanna Burke buried home a rebound for her fourth goal of the season.
Stephanie Williams took the initial shot from 20 yards out and keeper Melissa Kuhar's save went right to Burke for the goal.
That opened the floodgates. Two minutes later off a corner kick by
Delaney Kooken,
Megan Oostendorp was positioned on the back post to score her first goal of the year.
Another six minutes later,
Casey Maloney blasted a shot from 25-yards out off a pass back from
Erica Atnip.
Truman outshot SJC for the game 33-2 with 13 on net. The Bulldogs also had 14 corner kicks to none for the Pumas.
Katie Mattingly did not have to make a stop for Truman but picked up her ninth shutout of the season.
Truman improves to 10-0-1 overall and 9-0 in the GLVC.
