RECAP: Truman 3, Missouri S&T 2

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Unlike Friday night, the Truman volleyball team was trailing Missouri S&T two sets to one on Saturday, but flipped the script by winning the next two sets and the match 3-2.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 9-14 overall and 7-4 in the GLVC while the Miners are now 8-15 on the season and 3-8 in league action. Leading the way for the home team were Kayla Bastian (pictured/14 kills and two service aces), Savvy Hughes (38 assists and two service aces), Bailey O'Drobinak (six blocks), and Lauren Wacker (25 digs).

The Breakdown
  • Bastian was able to hit .235 with those 14 kills to just two errors on 51 total attacks.
  • The senior earned her 10th double-double of the year as she also had 23 digs, three short of tying a season high.
  • Jasmine Brown and Lacey Hill also had double-digit kills with 13 and 11, respectively.
  • With her 38 assists, Hughes had at least 38 in a match for the first time since Oct. 4 (six matches).

  • With 18 digs, Hughes registered her 10th double-double of 2016 as well.
  • The match was tight all the way through as it saw a combined 27 deadlocks and 11 lead changes.
  • In the first set, the home team's final lead was 17-16 before its visitors scored nine of the final 13 points.
  • In the second set, Missouri S&T controlled much of the action early on and led 22-17 before Truman went on a 8-0 run to even the match at 1-1.
  • For the third, the two squads were even at 21-21, but the Miners rattled off four straight to win the set.
  • In the fourth, Missouri S&T had just four leads, but they were early on. After 4-2, the Bulldogs came back and never gave up the lead.
  • In the fifth, Truman led 12-9, the away team tied it at 12-12 and Truman scored three of the final four points to take the set and match.
