Box Score (HTML)

JOPLIN, Mo. – A slow start to the fourth quarter enabled the Missouri Southern Lions to down the Truman Women's Basketball team 94-88 on Tuesday night. Rachel Edmundson scored a career-high 27 points on eight three-pointers for the Bulldogs.

The game was tied 44-all at half and tied for the ninth time at 57 apiece with 2:57 left in the third quarter following a free throw by Edmundson. However, Amelia Bramer broke the tie with a triple and later the Lions would score 11 of the first 12 points to start the fourth quarter to take their largest lead at 14 points, 76-62 with 5:45 left.

The Bulldogs chipped away and Edmundson's seventh three-pointers cut the lead down to four with 39 seconds left to play. However the Lions used the free throw line down the stretch to maintain at least a two possession advantage. The Lions attempted 43 free throws, making 32 for the game and 18 in the fourth quarter.

Edmunson hit a final three with six seconds left for her eighth of the game. That is the third most in Truman single-game history and the most by a Bulldog since Courtney Strait against Mount Mercy in 2012. The Bulldogs were 15-of-30 from three, tying for the second most triples in a single game.

Brooke Bailey added 16 and Rachel Steinhoff scored a dozen for Truman.

Deb Holcomb led all scorers with 28 points as the Lions outscored Truman by 13 from the foul line and 14 (28-12) on points off of turnovers.

Truman will head to Springfield to compete in the Drury University Thanksgiving Classic where they will match up against #2 Emporia State on Friday night at 7:45 p.m.
