RECAP: Bulldogs Down Rival Hawks With Big Third Quarter

QUINCY, Ill. – A big third quarter burst by the Truman Women's Basketball team gave them their first conference win of the season as they blasted rival Quincy 62-42 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Truman led by nine early in the second quarter but the Lady Hawks stormed back on a 15-2 run and led by four following a pair of baskets by Cha Cha Williams to start the third quarter. Those were the only field goals by Quincy in the quarter. Truman outscored the home team 22-7 to take control of the game.
 
The Bulldogs scored 12 straight with Brooke Bailey's three-pointer as an exclamation point to put Truman up 32-24. Truman scored 11 points off of turnovers and shot 52.9% to lead 42-27 at the end.
 
The Lady Hawks could not put a dent into the margin as it even expanded out to 20 early in the fourth.
 
Cassidy Clark led all scorers with 18 points and was 9-of-12 from the field while adding seven rebounds. Bailey scored 16 with three three-pointers and Ashley Hartwig added 15.
 
Quincy was 17-of-60 from the field (28%) and 2-of-13 from three (15%).
 
The Bulldogs even up their record to 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference. Quincy drops to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the league. Truman will be off until a non-conference home game aginst Missouri-St. Louis on December 19.
