KIRKSVILLE, Mo.Cassidy Clark's season-high 17 points lifted the Truman Women to their 17th victory of the season in a 65-56 win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday night in Pershing Arena.
 
Truman has now eclipsed last year's overall and conference win total with a record of 17-7 and 11-3 in the GLVC. UWP falls to 13-9 overall and 7-7 in the league. The Bulldogs will face #7 Lewis University on Saturday as the Flyers won their 18th straight over Quincy 68-62.
 
How It Happened:
  • UWP led 14-12 after one and had a five-point lead at 18-13 with 6:59 showing in the second quarter.
  • Courtney Strait sparked an 8-0 run with Clark scoring the final four to put the Bulldogs up 21-18.
  • Stephanie Furr tied the game at 21 and it was tied again at 23 until Sam Andrews made only her second three-pointer of the season at the top of the key with 22 seconds left to send Truman into the locker room up 26-23.
  • Three straight three-pointers, two by Rachel Steinhoff and another by Linnea Schmelzer gave Truman a 40-29 lead with 3:16 to play in the third. The Bulldogs would increase their lead to 14 points but UWP cut it to 10 to start the fourth.
  • UWP trimmed the lead to five and had possession with over five minutes to play. Stephanie Furr missed a jump but Kristin Conniff corralled the offensive rebound and gave the Rangers a second chance. Brittney Fair missed the short jumper and Ashley Hartwig grabbed the rebound.
  • Clark would score the next two for Truman to right the ship and expand the lead back to nine.
  • Parkside would claw back to six with over a minute to play but Truman's late game foul shooting sealed the victory.
 
Key Stats/Game Notes:
  • Clark was 8-of-9 from the field to score her Truman career high of 17 points. Her previous best was 12, twice this year and last against Culver-Stockton in late November.
  • Steinhoff was 4-of-6 with a pair from three and finished with 11.
  • Strait notched her first double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 boards. Despite going 1-of-7 from the field, Strait was 9-of-12 from the foul line and 7-of-8 in the fourth quarter.
  • The Truman bench shot 72% from the field (13-of-18) and as a whole; the Bulldogs shot 45.6% for the game.
  • Truman killed the glass by a 40 to 26 margin but only had two second chance points off eight offensive rebounds.
  • Michalina Tomczak added another block to move into sole possession of second place on the Truman career charts with 108.
  • As a team, Truman had five blocks on the night which tied them with the single season record of 103 set in the 2007-08 season.
  • The Rangers got 20 points from Stephanie Furr and 19 from Brittney Fair as those two accounted for 39 of the team's 56 points.
  • The Bulldogs are now 3-0 all-time against Wisconsin Parkside since joining the GLVC.
