Bulldogs Eliminated From Regional Play

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Truman Softball team was eliminated from the NCAA Midwest Regional after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of top-seeded Missouri-St. Louis on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs end their season with a record of 30-20.

For the second straight game against the Tritons, a close play at the play was the pivotal play in the game.  Erin Walker picked up the first hit of the game for either team as she dropped one in short centerfield then raced it out for a double. She was sacrificed over for the first out and the Bulldogs pitched around Ryan Logan to set up a potential double play. Jennah Perryman grounded to third and Jamie Fowel fired home but the speedy Walker was able to get under the tag for the 1-0 lead.

Cate Simon worked a two-out walk in Truman's fifth but Richardson was Hannah Perryman's fifth strikeout victim to end the inning.

Reagan Osborn shot a pitch up the middle for a single to start UMSL's fifth.  The next hitter, Alex Stupek pushed Christa Reisinger back to the centerfield track on a line out.  Osborn moved up on a wild pitch but stopped at third on another hard hit ball up the middle off the bat of Sara Kern.  That hit chased Kelsea Dorsey for Kindra Hinze. Pinch hitter Kaitlin Frazier lofted one behind the second base bag but Jamie Fowle was able to dive and make the catch for the second out of the inning. Walker lifted a pitch to left to leave two runners on.

Kadie Orenstein pinched hit for Truman in the sixth and popped up to short center with Kern racing in to make a shoe-top catch for the first out in the sixth.  Reisinger broke up Perryman's no-hit bid with a bunt single with two outs however Riley Cook fouled out to end the inning.

Alicia Shivers added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out triple off the top of the right field fence. Jennah Perryman scored after coxing a two-out walk.

Truman brought up the heart of the order in the seventh to try and extend the season but they went down in order.
