KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman men's soccer team faced a deficit of at least two goals before scoring for the third match in a row on Sunday, but unlike Friday, was unable to come all the way back in a 2-1 loss to Missouri S&T.
With the win, the Miners improved to 3-0-4 overall and 2-0-3 in the GLVC while the Bulldogs now sit at 3-4-1 on the season and 1-4 within the conference. For the team statistics, the home team led in total shots (14-7), shots on goal (6-3) and corner kicks (5-3), but the visitors had the advantage in saves (5-1).
Missouri S&T scored one goal in each half, including the third minute and 47th minute, but the hosts stiffened up on defense and came on strong offensively. In the 54th minute,
Craig McLaurine found
Nate Luebbert with a beautiful cross and Luebbert did the rest with his first goal of the year. That marked McLaurine's fourth assist of the season, which is good for a tie for second among the league's leaders.
In goal,
Zac Suazo had one save on seven shots faced, which is tied for the lowest total he has seen all season (Southern Indiana).
Next up, Truman will travel to William Jewell on Friday, September 30 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
