LIBERTY, Mo - The Truman men's soccer team snapped a three-match losing streak in a big way on Friday night and did so with a 3-1 victory at William Jewell.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-4 in the GLVC while the Cardinals fell to 2-7 on the year and 2-5 in league play. The Purple and White sent three shots into the back of the net for just the second time this season, the last being on Sept. 13 at Southwest Baptist.
Truman took a 2-0 lead early with goals from
Brian Kane in the 22nd minute and
Craig McLaurine (pictured) in the 28th minute. That marked their first and second goals of the season, respectively, and McLaurine was assisted by
Ben Nivala on his effort.
William Jewell cut the deficit to one with its goal in the 58th minute before the Bulldogs put the nail in the coffin in the 68th minute thanks to
Ben Rosenblatt's first score of the year.
In goal,
Zac Suazo saved three shots while facing a total of 13. In the team statistics, Truman led in shots (17-13), shots on goal (6-4) and corner kicks (6-2), while the two teams were even in goalie saves.
Next up, the Bulldogs travel to No. 1 Rockhurst on Sunday with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. in Kansas City.
