Lockett's Goal Gives Truman 1-0 Win Over Ohio Dominican

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Allison Lockett took a pass from Stephanie Williams and buried it the back of the net as the Truman Women's Soccer team downed Ohio Dominican 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.

The first half was evenly played with each team recording a shot in the first 45 and the Pioneers having the edge in corner attempts 4-2.

The Bulldogs opened things up in the second as just two minutes in Williams was stopped point-black by keeper Kelsey Harris from just outside the six-yard box. A few minutes later, Williams found Hanna Burke on the right side but that shot was gobbled up by Harris.

On a similar play in the 58th minute, Williams again crossed it over to her right and Lockett made no hesitation putting the ball into the net for the lead.

Later, Lockett had a chance for an insurance goal but her header was snatched out of the air by Harris with seven minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.

Katie Mattingly and the Bulldog defense held Ohio Dominican to four shots total and only two on goal. It was the 19th career shutout for the Truman netminder.
Truman will start their conference march next weekend as they travel to Illinois for dates with McKendree (Friday/5 p.m.) and Illinois Springfield (Sunday/12 p.m.).
