Box Score (HTML)

ST. LOUIS – Missouri-St. Louis' Jordan Fletcher scored 27 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in the Tritons 67-58 victory over the Truman Women's Basketball team on Saturday afternoon.

Truman falls back to the .500 mark overall at 9-9 and 4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while UMSL improved to 9-8 overall and also 4-5 in the conference.

The Bulldogs will begin four straight at home on Thursday night when nationally-ranked and West Division leader Drury visits Kirksville for a 5:30 p.m. tip.

How It Happened:
  • The Bulldogs raced out early scoring 11 of the first 13 points and led by as many as 15 following Jamie Gleeson's back to back buckets late in the first quarter.
  • Truman was 10-of-17 in the first quarter but made just 10 more field goals the rest of the contest.
  • Ashley Hartwig knocked down a triple at the 5:18 mark of the second quarter to give Truman a 31-19 advantage.
  • The Tritons closed the half on a 10-3 run to trim the Bulldog lead down to 35-31.
  • Laura Szorenyi made a basket then three free throws to spark a 13-0 run by UMSL to give them their first lead and build upon it at 49-39.
  • Brooke Bailey's three-pointer stopped the bleeding and Hartwig got the first hoop of the fourth quarter to make it 48-44 Tritons.
  • Bailey's three started a 12-3 Truman run to pull the Bulldogs even at 56 to play with 3:37 left.
  • Jordan Fletcher scored to give the Tritons the lead then following a Bulldog miss on the other end, knocked down another hoop for a four-point lead.
  • Hartwig converted on a pair of free throws to bring it back to two but Fletcher scored again and was fouled to make a three-point play for her final points of the afternoon.
  • The Tritons knocked down four more free throws to close out the win.
Key Stats/Game Notes:
  • In the first quarter, Truman was 10-of-17 with 4-for-4 from distance and forced six UMSL turnovers to lead 26-13.
  • Between the second and third quarters, Truman went 5-of-25 from the field.
  • Fletcher was 11-of-18 with 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, six on the offensive end. It is the most rebounds by a GLVC player this season and second most by an opponent against Truman since Mariyah Brawner-Henley pulled down 21 in 2015.
  • Brooke Bailey matched her career high with 16 points to lead the Bulldogs and Ashley Hartwig scored 13. Bailey made three, three-pointers, added five rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block.
  • Leading scorer, Cassidy Clark had her 12-game streak of scoring in double figures stopped as she was held to five points on 2-of-7 shooting. Clark picked up two fouls in the first quarter and sat the remaining of the half.
  • Laura Szorenyi, who burned the Bulldogs for 24 in their December 19 meeting, scored 15 points and was 7-of-9 from the foul line. She missed all five of her three-point attempts.
  • The 15-point lead was the largest lost by the Bulldogs this season and largest since a 16-point lead was evaporated in a one-point loss to Missouri Western in 2012.
