RECAP: Bulldogs Push #12 Drury To Brink Before Falling Late

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Bulldog Women's Basketball pushed the 12th-ranked Drury Lady Panthers to the limit on Thursday night before falling late 64-57 to kickoff a four-game home stand.

Truman trailed by nine midway through the third quarter but battled back to take a lead at 43-42 with 1:33 left in the quarter.

The fourth quarter was back and forth until Drury took the lead on a basket by Heather Harman at the 4:41 mark at 53-52.  Brooke Bailey got Truman back to within four with 48 seconds left but the Lady Panthers hit seven of their last nine free throws to win their 10th straight.

Cassidy Clark led Truman with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds while Drury was paced by Harman with 20
points on 9-of-18 shooting.

Truman will host Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon. The Miners won 72-59 at Quincy on Thursday night.
 
How It Happened:
  • After the score was tied at six, Drury 15-3 run to lead 21-9.
  • The lead swelled to its largest margin of 16 midway through the second at 29-13.
  • The Bulldogs closed the half on a 7-2 run and trimmed the lead under 10 at 31-22.
  • Truman shot 53.8% in the third quarter and made three of five from distance in outscoring the Lady Panthers 21-13.
  • Clark's second three-pointer of the season ignited the Bulldogs. Her triple pulled the Bulldogs to within four at 38-34 with 4:47 left in the quarter.
  • Truman scored seven straight to take the lead following Kennedy Martin's basket at the 1:33 mark.
  • A pair of free throws from Brooke Stanfield at the end of the quarter sent Drury back into the lead at 44-43.
  • Rachel Edmundson connected from range on the first hoop of the quarter to put Truman up by two.
  • Paige Wilson counted for the Lady Panthers to jump frog the Bulldogs at the eight minute mark.
  • After Drury grabbed the lead again on Harman's basket at the 4:41 mark, Truman committed six of their 27 turnovers and could not get back in front.
Key Stats/Game Notes:
  • It was Clark's second double-double of the season as she scored 15 points and nabbed 11 rebounds, 10 on the defensive glass.
  • Truman shot 42% for the game and 43% from three connecting on seven of 16 three-pointers.
  • Brooke Bailey added 14 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
  • Heather Harman scored a game-high 20 for Drury and was 9-of-18 from the field.
  • Paige Wilson added 19 and went 10-of-10 from the foul line.
  • Both teams combine for 48 turnovers, Truman had 27, Drury 21.
  • Drury shot 39% overall and were 5-of-19 from range. They made 19-of-21 free throw attempts.
