RECAP: Peterson Strikes Twice As Bulldogs Earn 2-2 Tie At Lewis

Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Freshman Paige Peterson scored a pair of unassisted goals to help the Truman Women's Soccer team tie with Lewis University 2-2 in the regular season finale on Sunday. The Bulldogs will await their seeding and opponent for the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament that will be played next Sunday.

Lewis pumped 11 shots with five on goal in the first half and had six corner kicks. The final shot of the half found the back of the net when Sidney Riemer scored an unassisted goal for her first of the season.

Peterson tied the game less than five minutes into the second with a shot from 25-yards out that beat keeper Jennifer Meyer.

The Flyers grabbed the lead right back when Kailey Parnello headed in a cross from Christine Szymanski and Mallory Richardson.

Peterson again blasted a ball into the goal from outside the box in the 65th minute to level the score at two apiece.

The Bulldogs had the bulk of action in the extra time with five shots overall and two needing to be secured by Meyer. Sam Bibee had two shots blocked in the final minutes of action.

Truman finished the GLVC regular season with a 6-4-4 conference record and a 6-5-5 overall mark. They will be the only team not in action on Wednesday when the 15-team league wraps up play before the eight-team conference tournament begins on Sunday. The Bulldogs will be in the top eight but seeding will be determined following Wednesday's matches.
