KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The month of December sees only four games on the Truman schedule but it will start with a bang as the Bulldogs open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday afternoon against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Bulldogs will follow up the conference game with a visit by Hannibal-LaGrange College on Monday evening.

Three of the four games in December will take place over a six-day span with two coming in conference. The Bulldogs last game of the calendar year will be on December 19 at Missouri Western.

The Bulldogs are 3-2 after having gone 1-1 over the Thanksgiving weekend at the Washburn tournament. Truman downed Newman (Kan.) University 75-69 on Friday but lost 68-67 at the buzzer to the host Ichabods. Ashley Hartwig and Katie Jaseckas averaged 14 points in the two games with Hartwig pulling down 7.5 rebounds per contest.

UMSL is 3-1 on the year and will open the league season on Thursday night with a road game at Drury. The Tritons have wins over Lincoln, Kentucky State and Davenport (Mich.) and a three-point loss to Grand Valley (Mich.) State.  Four players average over 10 points for UMSL led by Arielle Jackson at 14 points per game.

Hannibal-LaGrange is 0-7 on the year and will play two regular season games prior to their trip to Kirksville for an exhibition game on their schedule. The Trojans closest game this season thus far is a 13-point loss to rival Culver-Stockton on November 14. HLG has lost their seven games this year by a scoring margin of over 40 points.

About the Bulldogs:
For the season, Truman is averaging 68 points offensively and allowing 61. The Bulldogs shoot 38% from the floor, 30% from the arc and 78% from the foul line.

Ashley Hartwig has scored in double-figures in her last three games and now leads the team in scoring at 11.2 points per. Hartwig has had 29 double-figure scoring nights and is also tops on the team in minutes played per game at 27. Katie Jaseckas is second in scoring at 10.6 per game and has scored in double-figures in both games at Washburn last weekend. Jaseckas leads the team in rebounding at 6.4 per game and has nearly half of her boards (15 of 32) on the offensive end.

Brooke Bailey has come off the bench in all five games and averages 9.8 points per game and leads the team in three-pointers made with nine and attempts with 25.

The Starting Five:
Truman has used the same starting lineup for the first five games. Seniors Ashley Hartwig, Remy Davenport (4.0 ppg), junior Rachel Edmundson (5.4 ppg), sophomore Sloane Totta (5.8 ppg) and freshman Katie Jaseckas.

Truman In GLVC Action:
Truman was 10-8 last season in conference games and averaged 68.6 points scored and 63.9 points allowed in the 18 contests. The Bulldogs shot 41% overall and 33% from three. Truman is 1-3 in conference openers under the GLVC banner having lost their last two openers, both to Rockhurst.

The Bulldogs are 45-27 in four seasons of GLVC action and 26-10 in conference home games.

Triton Tidbits:
UMSL had won two straight entering Thursday night's game at Drury and were 3-1 on the season…only loss was a three-point setback at home to Grand Valley (Mich.) State 61-58…four players average in double figures led by Arielle Jackson's 14 points per game…Jackson also leads the team in steals and assists…Alex LaPorta averages a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, she also shoots 52% from the floor…UMSL has averaged 66.5 points scored and 57.5 points against while shooting 35% overall, 36% from three and 60% from the line…the Tritons were 16-12 overall alst season and 10-8 in conference, they won their first round GLVC game over Saint Joseph's (Ind.) but fell in the quarterfinals to Lewis 80-61.

Series w/UMSL:
Truman leads the overall series with UMSL 19-18 with the teams splitting the six GLVC games played since 2014. UMSL has won two non-conference meetings during this span and Truman defeated the Tritons 59-51 in the first round of the GLVC Tournament in 2016.
UMSL won both meetings last year, one non-conference 80-70 in Kirksville and 67-58 in conference play in St. Louis.

About HLG:
The Trojans have struggled to an 0-7 start after a 4-25 campaign last year…they have been nearly doubled up in points this season as they allow 89.9 points and score 47.7 points per game…Kenna Greenway leads the team in scoring at 10.4 points per game and has knocked down 16 three-pointers in 42 attempts (38%)…as a team, HLG shoots 32% overall, 27% from three and 68% at the line…Truman is 6-0 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange and downed the Trojans 69-37 in their last matchup on November 23, 2015.

Coaches Polls
Truman was picked second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division and had one first-place vote among the five teams. UMSL received the second most first-place votes of all 15 conference teams with eight but with total points, picked to finish second behind Maryville in the newly formed GLVC Central Division. Drury received 13 first-place votes to sit atop the West while 10 teams spread across the three divisions picked up first place tallies.

Around The GLVC
Just one unbeaten are among the 15 league teams as the conference begins play on Thursday night. Southern Indiana is 6-0 on the year. The Screaming Eagles sit just outside the WBCA Top 25 Poll at number 26. Drury is the only ranked team at #9 with a 5-1 record.

The GLVC Player of the Week was Jessica Kelliher netted her eighth career GLVC Player of the Week award and second this season after averaging 25.5 points, including 37 against Ferris State last week.

Returning All-GLVC
Junior forward Rachel Edmundson was a second team all-GLVC player last year and sophomore guard Sloane Totta was named to the All-Freshman team. Edmundson averaged 12.3 points a night and shot 37% from beyond the arc and 76% from the foul line. Totta was the assists' leader for Truman with 81 in 28 games and scored 7.4 points per game.

Academic All-GLVC
Seven Truman players earned the Academic All-GLVC award following last season. They were Rachel Edmundson, Jamie Gleeson, Ashley Hartwig, Taylor Koper, Rachel Steinhoff, Maddie Tharp and Sloane Totta. To earn Academic All-GLVC accolades, a player must have a 3.30 grade-point average over the academic year.

In addition, Koper, Steinhoff and Totta earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar award for posting 4.0 GPAs during the past academic year.
