ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Truman Baseball team wrapped up their four-game swing at the Henderson State (Ark.) Classic on Sunday with a 10-6 loss to the host Reddies. The Bulldogs went 1-3 in their opening weekend of play.
 
Jason Priest hit .563 for the weekend going 9-of-16 with a pair of doubles and six RBIs to lead the Truman offense over the four games.
 
The Bulldogs will head south again next weekend with a four-game series scheduled with Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
 
 
Henderson State 10, Truman 6
Truman jumped on top of the home team with Mason King drawing a walk and Brendan Trimble doubling to right field to bring King in. Jason Priest got a two-out single to make it 2-0 Bulldogs.
 
The Reddies first eight batters reached in the bottom of the first and they sent 10 hitters to the plate to go up 6-2. A pair of doubles coupled with some errors led to the early exit of starter Matt Tomez.
 
Brian Clark made his Truman debut and was stellar. Clark got Truman to the dugout in the first, then did not allow an HSU hit until a pair of singles in the fifth.
 
Truman battled back. The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the fourth and King singled to left to score Priest and Trimble was hit to bring home Wyatt Fones. The Bulldogs tied the game in the seventh when Fones singled to left scoring Charlie Kreh and Priest, all with two outs.
 
Tyler Blackington put up a scoreless sixth in relief of Clark but was greeting in the seventh with a solo shot to right off the bat of Jordan Taylor to break the tie. Nolan Ryan singled in two more and Turner Sparks added an insurance run with another hit.
 
Truman had base runners in both the eighth and ninth but couldn't push across anymore runs.
 
Priest and Chris Iliopoulos each had three hits in the game and Evan Kayser had his first multi-hit game as a Bulldog with two. Clark pitched five innings without allowing a run and fanned five.
 
Nebraska-Kearney 9, Truman 5
 
Truman grabbed an early lead on Chris Iliopoulos' first home run of the season in the second inning.
 
The Bulldogs held that advantage until the fourth when the Lopers plated three runs all after the first two were retired to go up 3-1. They would score two more times in the fifth to chase starter Brad Molski from the hill and led 5-1 after five.
 
The rally caps came alive in Truman's sixth. Jason Priest continued his hot hitting with a two-run single to center and Iliopoulos blasted his second homer, a two-run shot to tie the game up.
 
Blake Bagenstos, who made his Truman debut and got a double play to end the fifth, worked into trouble by issuing a walk and a hit batter in the sixth. Alex Hoffmann walked two of the next three hitters, including one with the sacks juiced to force in the go ahead run. He then allowed singles to the eighth and ninth hitters that broke the game open. Hoffmann retired the final six Lopers but Truman couldn't push across any more runs.
 
Dave Gambino was 2-for-4 as was Priest and Iliopoulos.
 
Truman 6, Northwest Missouri 2
 
Jason Priest went 3-of-4 with a double and two RBIs and the Bulldog pitching staff held Northwest Missouri to three hits in a 6-2 win on Saturday afternoon.
 
Mason King led off the game with a walk and Brendan Trimble drove him to third with a double. Dave Gambino brought both in after reaching on an error and Priest got Gambino home on a groundout as Truman took an early 3-0 lead.
 
Gambino doubled in Trimble in the sixth and Priest plated Gambino with a single. The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the seventh with King getting the sac fly.
 
Freshman Rian Markes started his first game set the Bearcats down in order the first time through the lineup. Ozzie Adams doubled and scored in the fourth to cut Truman's lead to 3-1. Markes retired the first two in the sixth but got into a jam and was replaced by another newcomer Tyler Blackington. The freshman walked his first hitter but picked up the strikeout to leave a pair of runners on.
 
Blackington gave way to Austin Tinsley in the eighth and he retired the final six of seven hitters, two via strikeouts.
 
Trimble was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Adam Stolley was 2-for-3 at the dish.
 
Central Missouri 11, Truman 4
 
The Mules, ranked second in preseason Division II polls, used a seven-run second inning to overtake Truman.  Travis Stroup with the biggest blow of the game, a three-run homer in the inning of starter Kent Frantz (0-1).
 
Charlie Kreh and Jason Priest each collected a double and RBI for the Bulldogs. Brendan Trimble scored two of Truman's four runs with Mason King and Dave Gambino crossing the dish for the other two tallies.
 
Frantz struck out five but allowed 10 hits and eight runs in four innings as the Friday night starter. Tanner Forck came in out of the pen to pitch the final five innings and allowed four hits and struck out five.
