RECAP: Bulldogs Scratch Out 63-58 Road Win At UW-Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. – Playing near her hometown, junior Ashley Hartwig notched her third double-double of the season and lifted the Truman Women's Basketball team to a 63-58 road win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday afternoon.
 
Hartwig, from nearby Janesville, Wisconsin, was 5-of-9 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line to tie Rachel Edmundson for game-high honors with 18 points apiece. Hartwig added 11 rebounds with five coming on the offensive end.
 
Truman (12-12; 7-8 GLVC) raced out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter but watched as the Rangers (8-15; 6-9 GLVC) scratched their was back on Brittney Fair's three-point play early in the second.  UWP tied it one other time in the quarter on a three-pointer by Blair Arthur at 25 each.
 
The Bulldogs led by as many as seven in the third and fourth quarters. The Rangers closed to within three at 61-58 with 1:08 to play however freshman Sloane Totta knocked down two big free throws after a video review to check the game clock with 27 seconds showing. Hartwig, Edmundson and Brooke Bailey knocked down free throws in the final 15 seconds to preserve the win.
 
Edmunsdon was 7-of-13 from the field and added eight boards. Cassidy Clark scored 10 points in limited minutes due to foul troubles in the first half. Truman shot 36% overall and made 5-of-16 threes.
 
Fair was the only Ranger in double-figures with 14 points.
 
The Bulldogs return home for the final three regular season games. They will host William Jewell College on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
