INDIANAPOLIS – Martha Burse scored 22 of her game high 28 points in the second half as the Truman Bulldogs fell for the second time this week. The University of Indianapolis downed the Bulldogs 79-63 on Thursday night.

Truman held the second highest scorer in the Great Lakes Valley Conference to only six points in the first half and had an early seven-point lead at 19-12 in the second quarter. Sarah Costello came off the bench to spark the Greyhounds scoring 13 of her 17 points in the quarter and lifting UINDY to a 31-27 halftime advantage.

The Bulldogs closed back to within two at 36-34 following three-pointers by Remy Davenport and Rachel Edmundson but an 8-0 run keyed by treys from Alexa Bailey and Devin Ferguson pushed the lead to 10 points for the first time.

Truman remained out of sync the rest of the half. The Bulldogs were 11-of-43 from the field for 25% offensively and Indianapolis shot over 53% in the half.

For the game, the Bulldogs were 20-of-70 (28%) from the field. Edmundson was the only player in double-figures with 18 points coming on three, three-pointers and 7-of-8 from the foul line. Truman won the glass 43 to 37 and had 23 offensive rebounds that turned into 26 second chance points.

Burse was 10-of-19 from the field for 28 points and added five boards. Costello alone outscored the Truman bench 17 to 16 and was 6-of-10 overall and 2-of-3 from distance.

Truman came into the game holding opponents under 60 points per game but UINDY was able to push past that total through three quarters and finished with the most points allowed by a Truman team this season.

The Bulldogs will look to regroup at nationally-ranked Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon in Evansville.
