KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women will look to wash last week's bad taste away when they travel to Maryville University on Thursday night for the only game this week.

The Bulldogs just completed a stretch of five games in 10 days and fell all three times last week, two coming against nationally-ranked opponents.

Revenge will be on the minds of the Bulldogs when they head south to St. Louis on Thursday. It was Alex Wolf beating the buzzer in Pershing Arena last March to give the Saints an 80-79 upset win over the Bulldogs in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament.

Truman led by four with three minutes to play but the Saints battled back and had a three-point lead in the final minute before Brooke Bailey knocked down a triple to tie things up. Following timeouts, Stephanie Sherwood took a jumper for the win that missed but Wolf was their for the offensive rebound and put back that silenced the arena. Ali Ringering led Maryville with 24 points and Ashley Hartwig scored a career-high 23.

Truman's rough week started with a home loss to Drury in which the Bulldogs led by one at the half but were outscored in points off of turnovers 28-7 in a 57-46 loss.
At Indianapolis, Truman led by seven early in the second quarter but the Greyhounds shot 51% over the final three quarters including 58% in a 29-point third quarter to suffer a 79-63 loss. Against Southern Indiana, Truman trailed by two entering the fourth quarter but were outscored 29 to 11 as the Screaming Eagles blistered the nets at 70.6% in the final 10 minutes.

Despite a minus 47 in scoring last week, Truman was only a minus one in the first half of all three games. The Bulldogs shot 31% from the field, 25% from three and 63% from the line and turned the ball over 21 times on average.

The Bulldogs are looking to right the ship against a team that spoiled the season last year and have struggled overall in the 2017-18 season. Maryville broke a seven-game losing streak with a 65-59 victory at home against Central Division leading Illinois Springfield on Saturday. Ali Ringering and Mary Barton tallied 15 points each and Maryville used a big third quarter of 19-7 to down the Prairie Stars.

Ringering leads the team in scoring at 15 points per game and the team averages over seven three-pointers per game with Ringering (28), Stephanie Sherwood (30), Mary Barton (24) and Kayla Steward (17) all threats from outside.

Series History with Maryville:
The Bulldogs have faced only two other GLVC teams more over the past five years than the Saints. Truman is 5-3 in games since joining the GLVC including the 2014 GLVC Tournament championship game and last season's first round tournament game.  The two teams Truman has played the most are Quincy and Missouri-St. Louis at 10 games apiece.

In last year's regular season game played in St. Louis, the Bulldogs scored four seconds into the game and never trailed in a 69-54 win. Cassidy Clark scored 14, Rachel Edmundson 13 and Sloane Totta had 12 with nine assists. Ali Ringering scored 15 and Mary Barton 14 for the Saints.

Last 5 Games:
Truman is 2-3 in their last five games with a 62.6 scoring average and a 63.4 scoring defensive average. The Bulldogs are 37-of-114 (32%) from outside while opponents are 24-of-92 (26%). Of concern, the turnovers per game is at 18.2 over the last five and the free throw shooting is at 66%, both worse than their current season averages.

Off the bench, the Bulldogs bring a plethora of experience. Junior Brooke Bailey has started 30 of the 74 games and averages 6.6 points this season with 16 three pointers. Bailey has averaged 5.6 in GLVC affairs.

Junior Rachel Steinhoff has 56 starts in 75 games as a Bulldog and has 51 career steals while averaging 4.9 points per game.

Truman averages nearly 13 players per game and nine of the 16 on the active roster have played all 16 games. Three others have been in either 14 or 15 games this season. Ashley Hartwig leads the team at 25.0 minutes per game.

The Bulldogs have not had a single player average below 30 minutes per game for a season since the 2004-05 campaign when Kelli Floyd led the team at 29.4 per game. Hartwig has the most minutes in a game for Truman at 35 against Newman on November 24 and has two of the three games this season in which a Bulldog topped over 30 minutes on the floor. Rachel Edmundson had the third game last night with 31 minutes against Indianapolis.

???????GLVC Ratings System
The conference unveiled its points rating system to determine the top eight teams for the league postseason tournament. The system is designed to award points based on opponents winning percentages throughout the year. The most points a team can earn would be seven points for a road win against an opponent with a .750 or above winning percentage while a team could not get any points for a home loss to an opponent with an under .250 winning percentage.

Currently, Truman's rating dropped from 3.63 to 3.39 after Saturday's loss to Southern Indiana and is still in fourth place. Lewis, Southern Indiana and Drury have the top three spots with an over 4.0 rating. Bellarmine is tied with Truman at 3.39. Maryville is last with a 1.94 rating.
