Box Score

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Truman Football team exploded for 28 second half points and picked up their fifth straight victory in a 38-14 win over Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (5-3; 4-0 GLVC) took the opening drive 76-yards in 15 plays and got on the scoreboard with a 36-yard field goal from Josh Scheiderer. Later in the second, Jaden Barr found a wide open Jake Ellis for a 38-yard strike and Truman led 10-0 at the break.

Truman's first possession of the second half was another methodical march down the field. The Bulldogs traveled 86 yards on 14 plays with Andy Satulla capping off the drive with a one-yard plunge to make it 17-0.

The special teams got into the act in their first of two scores on the day. Griffin Becker got the punt block and Malique Robbins pounced on the loose ball in the endzone for his first touchdown of the season to make it 24-0 after three quarters of play.

It was the second straight week Truman had an opponent blanked through three quarters.

Robbins made his case to turn the three-headed Truman rushing attack in the four horsemen. Robbins added a 16-yard rushing touchdown with 11:40 left to play. The Bulldogs ran for 245 yards on 49 carries with Jaden Barr (12-81), Jordan Salima (19-71), Robbins (5-40) and Satulla (9-39) chewing up the majority of the yardage.

SBU (0-7; 0-5 GLVC) got on the board with 7:52 left to play on a five-yard run by Eric Knight. Knight finished with 98 yards on 14 carries.

The second special team score occurred on the ensuing kickoff. Jaylen Jefferson returned the kick 97-yards for Truman's fourth kick return score of the season. Truman is the only NCAA team, across all four subdivisions with four kickoff return touchdowns this year.

Knight added his biggest play of the game for the final score going 49-yards on the ground for a touchdown with 4:36 left to play.

Truman finished with 356 yards on the day and added another 36 yards on punt returns and 120 on kick returns. The Bearcats had 336 offensive yards and only entered the redzone once during the game.

The defense sacked quarterback Bryse Salik three times with Sam Reeves nabbing one of the sacks to move to within one of the Truman career record of 32. Jaden Barr was not sacked for the third straight game. Travis Myerson led the defense with 11 tackles.

The Bulldogs will put their five-game winning streak on the line next Saturday at home when the Quincy Hawks visit Stokes Stadium for a 2 p.m. kickoff. Truman has not won six straight games since the 1997 season.
