RECAP: Truman Falls To Bellarmine 3-0 In GLVC Semis

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The Truman Women's Soccer team saw their run in the GLVC Tournament come to an abrupt end in the semifinal round as Bellarmine scored three times to down the Bulldogs on Friday night. The Knights will play #7 seed Rockhurst for the championship and GLVC automatic bid for the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday.
 
Top seeded Truman (14-4-3) will have to put their fate in the hands of the NCAA selection committee following the loss. The Bulldogs were ranked eighth in the latest Midwest regional poll, a precarious spot knowing that eight teams make the regional field and Bellarmine and Rockhurst were not ranked in the top eight in the survey and one will get an automatic bid. The Bulldogs resume includes a win over #5 ranked McKendree in overtime and a three-way share of the GLVC regular season championship.
 
Fifth-seeded Bellarmine took advantage early when Natalie Teo scored her fifth goal of the year on a header off a corner kick by Audrey Van Der Eist just six minutes into the match. Van Der Elst tallied her seventh goal of the year later in the first half as a shot deflected off a Truman defender and snuck inside the far post.
 
The Knights, playing 20 miles from their campus and Truman making their longest trip of the season, got an unassisted goal from Olivia Taylor early in the second half to close out the scoring.
