KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - For the final time in 2018, the Truman State University men's and women's swimming teams were in action. The Bulldogs swept Western Illinois inside Pershing Natatorium as the men won by a score of 142-115 and the women followed suit, 169-90.
WINNING PERFORMANCES
The men took home first place in seven events while the women were on top of the pedestal for 10 of their 14 events.
Justin King took home multiple titles including the 200 fly (1:55.33) and 200 IM (1:56.28).
Four of the men's seven wins came in freestyle events including
Lliot Gieseke in the 100 (48.01),
John Breen in the 200 (1:44.79),
Riley Olson in the 500 (4:56.87), and
Connor Neils in the 1000 (9:55.14).
The men's seventh and final win belonged to
Jack McKenzie in the 100 fly with a time of 51.28.
Switching gears to the women, two of their titles came in relay events including the 200 medley (1:50.56) and the 200 free (1:40.49).
That Medley team was made up of
Lauren Massot (pictured),
Ginny Schranck,
Maggie Hickey, and
Emma Brabham.
As for the 200 free relay team, that quartet consisted of Brabham,
Lexi Krogman,
Allison Garrett, and
Kaylee Sisson.
In the free events,
Megan Mensinger won the 500 (5:28.28) and
Emma Barnett won the 1000 (10:58.73).
On to the backstroke, first-place showings for Truman included Massot in the 100 (1:00.29) and Barnett in the 200 (2:09.41).
Next up, in the butterfly, touching the wall first for the Bulldogs were Hickey in both the 100 (58.20) and 200 (2:09.37).
Last, but certainly not least, were Schranck in the 200 breast (2:27.43) and Massot in the 200 IM (2:14.78).

This will do it for 2018, so up next, both the men and women will be at William Jewell on Saturday, Jan. 12 with the action set to begin at 1 p.m. in Liberty.
