KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The last time Truman and William Jewell played each other, two short weeks ago, the Bulldogs hit near bottom as they lost their seventh straight game falling to the Cardinals 52-49. The Bulldogs launched a season-high 31 three-pointers and were held to a season-low 18 points in the paint in the defeat to William Jewell.

Fast forward now to Thursday's "Pink Out" game in Pershing Arena. The Bulldogs are riding a three-game winning streak and have been getting it done inside the paint. Truman has scored 106 points in the last three wins, a 35.3 points per game average in the high percentage shooting area. The Bulldogs moved to 10-1 this season when scoring 30 or more points inside the paint. The only loss was an 82-80 defeat at Maryville.

Sloane Totta (12.0), Katie Jaseckas (11.7) and Rachel Edmundson (10.0) have led the resurgence by all shooting over 50% from the field.
Totta has dished out nine assists added three steals and has made 15-of-17 free throws during the last three games to keep the Bulldogs inside the top eight for the conference postseason tournament with two games left to play.

She scored a game-high 14 points and was one of four Truman players to crack double-digit scoring in Truman's 75-67 win over Bellarmine on Saturday. Jaseckas added her sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Speaking of boards, the Bulldogs won the glass by 18 over the Knights with 21 of the 47 rebounds coming on the offensive end. It was the seventh game overall and sixth in conference that Truman won the rebounding battle by 10 or more rebounds.

Jewell is just above the Bulldogs in the GLVC Points Rating system and spots six through 11 are separated by just over four-tenths of a ratings point. Jewell is sixth (3.19), Truman seventh (3.16), Rockhurst eighth (2.97), McKendree ninth (2.88), Illinois Springfield is tenth (2.78) and Indianapolis is 11th at 2.72.

The Cardinals lost the next two games after beating the Bulldogs but bounced back with a 74-66 home win over Indianapolis on Saturday. Kayla Harrell led Jewell with 16 points and the Cardinals got three, threes from Katie Finn and Kaiti Butard. For the season, Harrell leads the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game and 13.7 points in league games. The Cardinals are last in the GLVC in scoring defense at 59.4 points per game but third in scoring defense allowing 60.8 points.

With a win, Head Coach Amy Eagan will tie John Sloop with 87 coaching wins at Truman, good for second among the 10 Bulldog women's basketball coaches. Mary Jo Murray leads the group with 100 wins in seven seasons.

Last Time vs. William Jewell:
The Bulldogs trailed by eight with 3:38 to play but rallied to have a chance to take the lead in the waning seconds blocked away as the Cardinals held on for a 52-49 win in Liberty. Sloane Totta led Truman with 10 points as she took a season-high 12 field goal attempts. The Bulldogs took more than half of their shots 31 of 57 from outside the arc and connected on only seven for 22.6%. Lindsey McCoy notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 defensive rebounds and Natalie Closser came off the bench to also score 15 points to pace the Cardinals. The lead was exchanged 12 times during the game.

Clear As Mud:
The battle for the top eight and a spot in the GLVC Postseason Tournament will hopefully be a bit clearer after Thursday's games. Nine women's teams are locked into their respective point categories in the GLVC Point Rating system.  That means those teams' winning percentages will not change over the last two games to affect how many points a team would get against them in the system. That is the good news.

The bad news is six teams can still change point values based on what they do this final week, including the Bulldogs. Truman has eight wins, one more and they will be locked into the .749-.500 category. Both of this week's opponents for Truman are also locked in to their respective category. Which means Thursday's game is worth 5 points against Jewell and 4 points against Illinois Springfield if they win or 2 points for Jewell and 1 point for UIS if lose.

Simple right? To illustrate this, on page 4, the points that are guaranteed are highlighted in red while the ones in black can be adjusted based on scores around the league. Truman's maximum PRS would be 3.41 while the worst-case scenario would be 2.75. Of the six teams not locked Missouri S&T and Missouri-St. Louis need to win both of their games to move categories, the rest (Truman, Quincy, UW-Parkside and Maryville) need one win to change.

Last Five Games:
Truman is 3-2 in their last five games while averaging 63.2 points offensively and 55.2 points defensively.
The team is shooting 39% overall, 26% from three and 62% at the foul line with a plus-nine rebounding advantage.

Sloane Totta has averaged 10 points and Rachel Edmundson is averaging 9.6 in the last five games. Totta has 12 assists, four steals, 16-of-19 from the free throw line and is shooting 53% from inside the arc.

Freshman of Year Candidate:
Katie Jaseckas is second in the GLVC in freshman scoring with 249 points, 18 behind McKendree's Sydney Diekhoff. Jaseckas leads Truman in scoring at 10.8 points per game and would become the first freshman to lead the team in scoring since Georgia Mueller did so as a freshman at 12.1 ppg in the 2005-06 season. Jaseckas is attempting to become the fifth player to lead the team in scoring as a freshman. The others besides Mueller are Felicia Sutton (13.0/87-88), Hilde Patterson (10.9/85-86) and Carol Jarrard (15.4/78-79). Sutton and Jarrard also led their teams in rebounding as well those seasons.

Jaseckas is fifth in the GLVC in rebounding (8.0/g), fifth in field goal percentage (56.1%), 11th in blocked shots (0.9/g), fifth in offensive rebounds (2.8/g) and fifth in defensive rebounds (5.0/g).
