Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – A three-run homer by Kyle Orloff broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the University of Indianapolis to a 7-2 victory in the opening game of a four-game series against the Truman Baseball team on Friday afternoon.

Orloff drove the 3-1 pitch from Matt Wade over the left center field fence for his second home run of the season and capped off a six-RBI day. He drove in the game's first run on a groundout to third in the third and added insurance with a two run double in the eighth.

After UINDY took a 2-0 lead in the third, Noah Schrader tied things up for Truman in dramatic fashion. Schrader belted his first collegiate home run over the right center field wall that plated Dan Ampleman, who reached via error.

Bryan Clark worked six solid innings but received his first no decision of the year. Clark allowed the two runs in the third but had to work around five walks issued. Brendan Trimble went 3-for-4 and Charlie Kreh 2-for-4 for the Bulldog offense.

Jake Sprinkle threw 120 pitches for the Greyhounds and allowed eight hits while striking out nine in his eight innings of work. John Hendry pitched a scoreless ninth.

The two teams return to action on Saturday at noon with a doubleheader.
