RECAP: Second Half Goals Give Truman Women Win In Opener

Box Score

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Paige Peterson and Hanna Liljegren scored second half goals as the debut of the 2018 Truman Women's Soccer team was successful in a 2-0 home victory over Davenport (Mich.) on Friday.

Peterson got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 61st minute as she corralled a loose ball about 25 yards out on the mid left side and lofted a shot that found the back right corner of the net. It was Peterson's fourth career goal.

Just over four minutes later, Isabel Kurzban popped a kick toward the 18 that was touched by Faith Branson to Liljegren for her first collegiate tally. Lillegren also used the top part of the net as her shot went over Davenport keeper Macie DeWyse's head.

Beth Hopwood got the nod in the goal for Truman making her first collegiate start and stopped all six shots on goal, three of which came on some point blank chances by the Panthers to earn the save.

The Bulldogs will return to the Truman Soccer Park on Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. match with Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University.
