KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—It was an unseasonably cold day in Northern Missouri as the Truman Men's Soccer Team took on the Drury Panthers, who were coming up from Springfield. Both teams played lockdown defense and both keepers made some timely saves as the score ended the same as it began, 0-0.
The first shot on goal in the game come over 25 minutes in, off the foot of
Jeff Masters. It would be the first of five on the day for the Bulldogs. Masters put another effort on net later in the half, and
Dom DeProspero also tested Drury keeper Yannick Lamers.
In the second half, Drury would test Truman keeper
Julian Echeverri three times, and each time the Bulldog keeper rose to the challenge. Echeverri made his third straight start for TSU, and the transfer from North Iowa Area CC turned in his best performance in a Truman uniform.
Matt Yankowitz nearly buried a cross with just over three minutes left in regulation, but while he had position the ball just passed him.
In overtime, both teams got two shots on goal, with both of Truman's coming in the first session. Drury had one in each overtime session, but none reached the back of the net to preserve the draw.
TSU managed six shots on goal and had eight corner kicks in the game with 13 total shots.
Truman will take the pitch next on Sunday afternoon at noon as they take on Southwest Baptist in GLVC action.
