RECAP: Bulldogs Fall at S&T

ROLLA, Mo.—The Truman Men's Soccer team looked to stretch their unbeaten streak to three games as they took on conference rival Missouri S&T, but it was not meant to be as a second half goal from the Miners broke the 1-1 tie and gave the hosts a 2-1 win. Overall, the Miner's attack was more potent in almost every area tonight with a 16-7 edge in shots, 5-2 in shots on goal and 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

Jeff Masters had a couple chances to get the Bulldogs on the board early on, but missed two shots wide in the first six minutes. It would not be long before S&T got their first shot on goal of the game, which Julien Denis got past Truman's Julian Echeverri for the first goal in the seventh minute of the half. The half settled down, but at the end of the half Ryan Stites scored to draw the game even. It was the first goal of the season for the redshirt sophomore, and his first goals since scoring against William Jewell on October 24, 2018.

The second half started slowly, with the first shot on goal coming over eight minutes into the half off the foot of Paal Benum of S&T, which Echeverri collected. The teams continued, neither testing the other team's keeper until in the 70th minute the go-ahead goal was scored by Bertram Gjelfort into the high left corner of the goal with Jason Jorgensen picking up the assist. In the 75th minute, Stites tried to pick up his second goal of the game but missed high. In the 82nd minute, Masters once again tested S&T keeper Nick Posey, but Posey made the stop to prevent the Truman equalizer. From there, S&T would see the game out and take home the one goal win.

Truman will head to Maryville next to take on the nationally ranked Saints on Sunday at noon in St. Louis.
