INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—After a victory over Ursuline in the first match of the day, the Truman volleyball team competed in the third window of the first day of the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament but fell to UW-Parkside 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20). Morgan Smith totaled 21 kills in this match, exceeding her first match total of 16. Elise Hardesty racked up 40 assists, bringing her total on the day to 81.

In the first set Truman carried the momentum they had built up from the win in the win over Ursuline and hit .394. TSU got a quick 4-1 lead to begin, with Lauren Wacker picking up an ace. Each time Parkside would rally, Truman would answer and eventually pushed their lead to seven at 16-9 after back to back kills from Jocelynn Livingston and Smith. Parkside had no answers the rest of the set, and Truman cruised to a 25-16 with, with Smith picking up five kills in the set. Ambria Whitlock had four kills in the set, she would have eight in the match.

Lindsay Woltering began the second set like she ended the fourth set of the first match, with service that seemed unstoppable. The teams gave and took leads, until at 20-20 a 5-1 spurt from Parkside took the set 25-21.

The third set began with the same seesawing back and forth most of the second set had. From an 11-11 line Parkside had a quick 3-0 run that gave them a 14-11 edge, and then from up 15-14 a 5-1 run gave Parkside the edge they would not lose as they took the set 25-19.

The first twelve points of the fourth set were split 6-6, but from there a 6-0 run by Parkside took back the lead for Parkside and they would not give it up the rest of the set. Truman would draw as close as four but could not come any closer as they dropped the set and the match.

Truman will conclude their crossover slate tomorrow against Wayne State at 1 p.m. CT.
