Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The #25 Truman Football team scored 35 straight points and pulled away for a 45-17 victory over McKendree (Ill.) to cap off the first perfect home schedule since 1994.

Jordan Salima scored three touchdowns and Jaden Barr added a rushing and passing TD in their senior finale at Stokes on Saturday. Salima finished with 132 yards on the ground on 24 carries and had scoring runs of 22, eight and two yards.

Cody Schrader put Truman in front with a 29-yard touchdown on the Bulldogs' first possession of the game but McKendree would counter with their big-play receiver Matt Cole hauling in a 40-yard strike from Turner Pullen to draw the Bearcats even at seven after the first quarter.

The second and third quarters were owned by the Bulldogs. Salima broke off his 22-yard TD run on the second play of the second quarter and after a punt by McKendree, Barr found Jake Ellis for a 58-yard pass then a nine-yard touchdown to put Truman up 21-7.

Truman opened up the third on a 10-play, 56-yard drive that was capped by Salima's eight yard run.

Later in the quarter, Griffin Becker got a piece of a McKendree punt and set up the 'Dogs at the Bearcat 19 yard line. Five plays later, Salima went untouched into the endzone at the Bulldogs were up 35-7.

McKendree got a fourth quarter field goal from 20 yards by Ryan Kastl and Josh Scheiderer responded with a 27-yard make with Jaylen Jeffeson setting up the score with a 55-yard kick return.

Cole ended the scoring as he got behind the defense for a 60-yard touchdown reception.

The Bulldogs put up 304 yards rushing on 60 attempts. Schrader complemented Salima with 90 yards on 13 carries and Barr added 63 on nine attempts. Truman was 6-of-6 on third downs in the first half and finished 9-of-14 for the game to go with 36 minutes-plus of possession time. Truman finished with 431 yards of total offense.

The defense held McKendree to 321 yards and only 21 yards gained on the ground. Travis Myerson finished with 10 tackles in his senior salvo at the stadium to lead the Bulldogs with A.J. Devecchi and Sam Reeves each recording sacks. Truman had eight tackles for loss and Eric Yakle had his second interception of the season.

The Bulldogs were last undefeated at home in 1994 (4-0) and again in 1992 (6-0) after finishing the home slate this year at 5-0.  They have hit the 8-win mark for the second time in four seasons and third time since 2001.

Truman will head to the University of Indianapolis next Saturday for a showdown with the Greyhounds. UINDY was undefeated and nationally-ranked entering the week but ran into Lindenwood (Mo.) on the road and fell 34-27. Kickoff from Key Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (ET).
