RECAP: Davenport Scores 14 In Exhibition Finale At Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Redbirds downed the Truman Women's Basketball team 87-60 in the final exhibition tune-up before the regular season starts on Saturday in Quincy, Illinois.
 
TeTe Maggett led the Redbirds with 21 points as the game counted as a regular season contest for the Division I opponent.  Maggett was 9-of-22 from the field and ISU shot 47.9% from the floor with only two three-pointers in 15 attempts.
 
Tiffany Davenport led Truman with 14 points on four of six from three and Katie Klucking added 12 points. Maddie Re pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
 
Sloane Totta and Davenport strung together consecutive three-pointers to give Truman a 12-8 lead in the first quarter and the Bulldogs led 16-14 after the first 10 minutes.
 
Maggett scored 12 of her game-high 21 points in the second quarter and had eight of the Redbirds 10-0 run to put Illinois State up 40-27 at the half.
 
Truman got as close as 11 in the third quarter when Allison Thomas made it 51-40 with 4:21 to play but the Redbirds would score 11 of the next 14 for a 62-43 lead.
 
The Bulldogs will open their slate on Saturday at 1 p.m. against UW-Parkside at the GLVC/GMAC/GLIAC Challenge.  They will follow that game up with a contest against Ursuline College on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.
