KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team will roar into the 2020's with a road trip to William Jewell and Rockhurst University this weekend. The Bulldogs will be in Liberty to face the Cardinals on Thursday and in Kansas City to square off against the Hawks on Saturday.

Truman has been off since a December 18th loss at #18 University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) by a score of 79-62. The Bulldogs led by as many as 13 points in the first half but the Cougars used a big second half push for the win. Hannah Belanger hit all six of her three-point attempts and was 7-of-10 overall for a season-high 20 points to lead Truman.

The Bulldogs enter the week with a 5-2 overall record and 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Belanger leads the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game and is the top three-point shooter with 19 makes out of 40 attempts (47.5%). Sloane Totta is at 11.8 points per night and is the assist leader with 44 in eight games while Katie Jaseckas is third in scoring at 10.9 points per game.

As a team, Truman is averaging 71.9 points per game and allowing 69.8 points. The Bulldogs make 45% of their shots from the field and 31.3% of their three-pointers. Opponents are shooting 42% overall and 34% from outside.

Truman has won the glass in seven of their eight games this season with four by 10 or more boards. The Bulldogs are fourth among GLVC schools in rebounding margin at a +8.1 boards per game.  In other conference rankings, Truman is tied for fourth in three-pointers per game with seven, fourth in assist/turnover ratio at 0.95 and second in field goal percentage at 45.8%.

Series with William Jewell:
Truman leads the all-time series with the Cardinals 9-4 with the team's splitting last year's meetings. Makenzie Bray knocked down one of three free throw attempts with three seconds left to give Truman a 60-59 win in Pershing Arena last December while former Cardinal Antoinette Mussorici poured in 33 points in an 86-72 Jewell win last February. Jewell has won the last three meetings in Liberty and is 3-2 all-time against Truman on their home floor.

A Decade That Was…
The Bulldogs hope the 2020's will be just as or even more successful as the 2010's. Truman finished the decade with a record of 170-108 (.611) with a conference tournament championship (2013), two NCAA tournament appearances (2013, 2019) and four 20-plus-win seasons. Truman won 57 more games in the 2010s than the 2000s (113 wins/.410)

Allie Norton (2011-15) was the leading scorer during the decade with 1,342 points (12.0/game). Courtney Strait (2012-16) and Nicole Gloor (2010-14) were the other two players to top 1,000 points in the decade with Strait scoring 1,126 and Gloor 1,091. Ashley Hartwig (2014-18) was the leading rebounder with 531 and Michalina Tomczak (2012-16) led in blocked shots with 119. Rachel Steinhoff (2014-19) played the most games in a Truman uniform during the 10s with 116, followed closely by Strait and Brooke Bailey (2014-19) with 115.
