KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The regular season road trips end on Saturday when the Bulldogs and Lady Hawks renew pleasantries at Quincy's Pepsi Arena.  Truman downed QU 65-46 just two weeks ago and will wrap up the road portion of their schedule with their shortest trip.

The Bulldogs bounced back from a defeat last Thursday at the hands of William Jewell with a 74-66 win at Rockhurst on Saturday. Junior Sloane Totta scored the most points by a Bulldog in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game with 28 against the Hawks. The previous high was 27 scored by Amy Briggs against Quincy in 2014.

Totta went 9-of-14 from the field with a pair of three-pointers and was 8-of-11 from the free throw line. She played a collegiate high 36 minutes in securing her second 20-point game this season and 27thdouble-figure game in her career. She is the "on-course" leader for the Bulldogs in scoring now having leapfrogged over Brook Bailey at 11.4 points per game. Bailey holds on to the number two spot at 11.1 and Rachel Edmundson is third at 10.4 points scored per game.

Quincy is mired in a seven-game losing streak, the longest active in the GLVC. Their last win was on January 19 with a 77-65 victory over Missouri-St. Louis at home. Two of their three conference wins have come on the home floor. Quincy was handled by both Jewell and Rockhurst last weekend. They were defeated 81-67 by Rockhurst on Thursday and 67-58 by William Jewell on Saturday. Quincy is trying to avoid their second 20-loss season in three years. They were 8-19 last season and 5-23 following the 2016-17 campaign.

In the game two weeks ago in Kirksville, both teams had to shake off slow starts. The first 13 shots were missed before a three-pointer by Brooke Bailey gave the Bulldogs the early lead. They would hold Quincy to five first quarter points. Totta would lead all scorers with 15 points and Truman knocked down 10 three-pointers in the 19-point win. The Lady Hawks shot 31% for the game, were outrebounded by 17 and held below 50 points for the fifth time this season. Jessica Merino was the leading scorer for QU with nine points.

This will be the 53rdgame between Truman and Quincy and the series is tied at 26 apiece. The Bulldogs have won the last four from the Hawks including the last two in Pepsi Arena. Quincy's last win occurred on March 3, 2016 at the GLVC Tournament in St. Charles, Missouri when they defeated Truman 62-49 in the quarterfinal round.

NCAA Regional Poll (Link
The national selection committee released the first NCAA regional poll and the Bulldogs were sixth in the Midwest region. Drury and Lewis were the top two teams followed by Grand Valley State, Ashland and Northern Michigan from the GLIAC. Truman was next with Southern Indiana in tow. Michigan Tech, Kentucky Wesleyan and Cedarville held down spots eight through 10.

Among the things considered in the Truman resume are their non-conference Division II opponents. The Bulldogs are 9-1 in DII non-conference games and the combine record of those nine opponents is 104-111 (.484).  The two notable results of the nine are a 12-point win over Kentucky Wesleyan on November 10 and a loss by 11 to Lindenwood on November 29. KWC is currently 19-5 overall and in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference; Lindenwood is 18-5 and in third place in the MIAA. Lindenwood and the MIAA are not in the Midwest region for NCAA.

The March To Madness:
The NCAA Division II tournament will feature 64 teams, eight from the eight regions. Truman and the GLVC are members of the Midwest region, which is also comprised of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). Each of those three conferences has an automatic spot in the regional tournament.  Five teams can earn an "at-large" bid that will be selected by a Regional Advisory Committee. The next regional ranking will be released on February 27.

The ranking committee will rate teams on the following criteria; overall Division II winning percentage, in-region winning percentage, strength of schedule (opponent's average winning percentage and opponent's opponent's average winning percentage); head to head results, common Division II opponent results, results against teams with a .500 record or better, in-region rating percentage index and a performance indicator index.

WBCA Poll
For the first time in 11 straight weeks, the Bulldogs were not mentioned in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll.  Truman had received votes starting on the November 27 poll date and got enough votes to crack the top 25 in two polls.

The 11 weeks mentioned tied the 2012-13 season for most weeks in a season receiving votes.

Truman has been ranked inside the top 25 in five weekly polls since 2004, peaking at 19 on February 5, 2013. However, the team is 3-6 in games played following a top 25 national ranking.

Free Throw/Three-Point Leaders:
Truman is the number one team in the GLVC in both free throws and three-pointers. The Bulldogs have made 393 of 531 free throw attempts to rank first in both categories in the conference and they are eighth in Division II in freebies made.

On the three-point side of things, Truman has knocked down 192 triples and taken 577 to lead the conference. In GLVC only games, the Bulldogs average a league-best 8.27 threes per game with 124 makes out of 345 attempts. Truman has nearly doubled up four teams in the league in three-pointers made. The bottom four teams in triples are McKendree (59), Bellarmine (64), Indianapolis (65) and Missouri S&T (69).
